On Sundays I play in a wood bat baseball league. No one’s rushing to sign me to the bigs, but I have fun. Before a recent practice, I went for a splash with the strike zone on my mind. There’s a saying in baseball: he who owns the inside owns the plate—a battleground between pitcher and hitter over a small piece of real estate. When I pulled this frame from my camera, it immediately took me to the inside corner—and what it takes to own it.
